Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are English Language learners who are filled with questions about the world around them. They love learning new things, they come ready to learn about their communities and everything that surrounds them. They enjoy the classroom as it is a place that feels safe and joy filled. All students come from immigrant parents, who struggle helping children outside of the classroom due to the lack of resources, and supplies.

My class is composed of English language learners, and students with Special Education needs, who lack the necessary resources to excel academically.

Families often struggle to find employment and opportunity due to the language differences and academic levels.

All the students in my classroom love coming to school everyday. Although we lack many resources we incorporate different learning strategies. They benefit from having two certified teachers which allows us to work in small groups, differentiated activities, and at times one to one intervention. I am very lucky to be an active member in my students life. I hope to help them to become active participants in their communities.

My Project

These iPads will enhance their learning opportunities. My students lack the technology necessary in my classroom. My students will improve achievement.

My students are primarily low income students who are immigrants themselves or come from immigrant parents.

My students do not have the technology necessary at school or at home. I believe this will greatly impact their academic success. This will help in engaging them into reading, researching, math, and continuing to learn about the world around them. My school offers students many opportunities to learn, however, much of the technology component is missing due to the lack of funding.

My Project

Class iPads would allow them to become engaged readers, mathematicians, and learners about the world beyond them. Students would benefit from the learning in an interactive, and hand on manner.

Due to the low income nature of my school, this would provide an opportunity that would not previously be awarded to them.

The iPads would help improve my classroom because my students would be more engaged in school. This would also provide them with extra technology that they do not have access to at home.
