My Students

“Action is the fundamental key to success.” – Pablo Picasso. This quote relates to my project as we know that interactive tasks and hands-on activities help to keep students engaged when learning to decode, vocabulary words, understanding grammar rules, and even learning to speak.

I work with 34 students who have difficulty with expressive language, receptive language, articulation, and fluency (stuttering).

I work in Title I schools where many kids have limited exposure to academic vocabulary and limited language learning opportunities. I would like to make speech and language therapy fun and interactive, but it's been difficult to do with just one computer.

My Project

Individual students will use the iPads to do drills to learn to correctly pronounce speech sounds so that they may be understood in the classroom. In groups, students will be able to access apps and interactive games so they can practice the strategies learned in speech therapy. The iPads will help students reach their goals quicker and keep them moving along the curriculum.

Having the set of iPads will allow for a different way of learning and keep students engaged.
