Kindergarten is such a big year for students! In my kindergarten class, I have 24 students who love coming to school! For a lot of them, this is their first time experiencing school. Of my 24 students, eight of them are English language learners and we have two special education students. Even though they are all different in some way, we are still one big family that loves to be around one another.
Our students are our future, so it is important for them to gain the experiences and knowledge they need to reach their full potential to do great in the future.
To do this, we need to integrate different resources and materials in the classroom. This not only give sour students the experience and knowledge they need to succeed, but it also engages them to build their love for school and learning!
My Project
As a first year teacher, I am constantly finding new ways to best engage and teach my students. I try my best to give them different options of work, in order to reach the learning needs of ALL of my students. My students LOVE using technology, even though we have limited access to technology resources. Currently, the students use our class set of Chromebooks and the few grade level iPads shared with the other Kindergarten class.
Integrating technology into the classroom gives students access to tools that are becoming more common in the 21st century world.
With iPads, this tool is something that most of the students already have prior knowledge of using; but I want them to learn that there is so much more to an iPad than what they already know!
The students use the iPad in small groups, whether they are practicing their letters, completing online math task cards, or listening to books online to practice their comprehension.
