My Project

‘Can I use the tablet?’ is a question that all students are asking. Everyone loves to use technology because it’s exciting, it’s motivating, it’s engaging...it’s fun! All our students require support to access their curriculum and feel successful within the classroom. They sit in class quietly, unable to follow along with the pace of the classroom, reluctant to participate in group discussions, and too timid to ask a question. Wouldn’t it be great if we could teach our kids foundational language skills by using their favorite things? That is exactly what speech and language therapy strives to do, and let’s be honest, have you met a kid that isn’t glued to their device given a free minute? So, let’s start using digital speech and language therapy tools to target their specific needs! Let’s foster and maintain a love for learning and desire to communicate.

It has been proven that when used correctly, the iPad together with digital speech therapy tools can transform a therapy session.

It can increase a child’s attention span, engagement, willingness to participate, and productivity of sessions. The digital speech therapy tools can be individualized to meet each student’s specific needs. They can be used to create profiles, establish baselines, record data, assist with progress monitoring and select goals. Various apps can be used to improve auditory comprehension skills and recall abilities, sequencing skills, articulation, and narrative writing. Our goal as speech pathologists is to not only improve a student’s articulation, expressive and/or receptive language skills, but to instill confidence so that they can and will achieve success.

Your generous donation will improve our speech therapy room by allowing us to engage with our students in a fun, meaningful way. You will be helping to change our students’ lives for the better.
