Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach a classroom full of bright, caring, and diverse 4th and 5th graders. My students love to learn and love to feel successful! Being in a self-contained classroom means that we have students with various different needs as well as learning styles. Despite my students having difficulties in learning, they never give up and always have a smile on their face.

Creating flexible, accessible, and calming environments for my students is what will allow them to continue to become successful learners.

My school is in District 1 in Manhattan, New York. We are a Title 1 school, which serves many low-income families. We are a diverse community that embraces and celebrates everyone's differences.

My Project

If funded, this project will provide us with 2 classroom iPads to be used throughout the school day. These will be used in small groups as well as on an individual basis. Technology is an important part of our world and it is important to introduce my students to it in the classroom.

My students will be given the opportunity to expand their learning by using technology.

In any subject, an iPad can provide various tools and games to keep my students engaged. There are many apps designed for students with disabilities, from providing assistance in literacy and math to providing sensory simulation and therapeutic tools to those who need it. Having iPads accessible in the classroom will increase student engagement across subjects and lead to successful learning.
