Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach very excited and energetic five-year-olds who are eager to learn and play! They love movement and moving around the classroom. During one of the center times, their favorite center is Write the Room, where they find the words from the letter of the week and they write it on a clipboard. My five years old love learning and are always eager and excited to learn! :)
The population I serve are from around the Over Town and Liberty City areas of Miami.
My students love using our iPad chart but we only have it once a week; they love using programs like I-Ready, Imagine Math & Literacy, Epic, and Nearpod. These are used as independent work and whole group activities. Most of our students don't have access to computers or iPads at home.
My Project
These iPads will help my students achieve their goals in reading and math. Also, I love creating activities in programs like Nearpod and Google Classroom to enhance my lessons. The students also enjoy the application Epic and they get to explore different literary content.
All this exposure and different media in my classroom help with giving my students experiences with learning that are innovative and memorable.
The students enjoy working with the iPads but wish we had more of them for every classroom. Also, with more iPads I can expose the students to basic research skills, making these learners 21st century learners.
