My Students

My class is full of students who are eager, excited, and motivated to learn. I teach a first grade gifted and talented class at a large public school in New York City. There are thirty-two children in the class, all amazing thinkers with diverse needs and a wide range of abilities. They have a variety of interests and a love for learning. Their interests spread throughout all areas of literacy, math, science, social studies, and technology. They love learning through hands-on and interactive activities.

My Project

Many years ago, when iPads were brand new, I was very fortunate to receive four of them for use in my first grade classroom. Those iPads stuck around for a long time and have now reached a point where they are so old that they cannot be updated anymore. They are not able to support newer learning apps and programs that I would like my students to use.

I hope to get two new iPads that will be used by my students to enhance their learning in so many ways.

I would like my students to be able to use them for reading interactive books and building up their reading skills. There are many math apps that would be so beneficial for my students to help them continue growing in a fun way. I also have my students do many research projects throughout the year, and new iPads will help my students to be able to find child-friendly resources for their research.
