My Students

My students come in every day with smiles on their faces and ready to learn. I teach a very diverse group of second graders in a high poverty school. Some of my students come from homes where they have been read to since they were infants and others come from homes with no books at all. Some come from homes full of food and others are part of our pack a snack program that provides food for students on weekends and breaks.

We have a wonderful second grade family and work hard everyday to help each other make the best choices!

It is my goal to keep my students interested in all aspects of their education, especially reading.

My Project

"Ms. Y., do you have tablets?" This was a question I got a lot teaching summer school this year for upcoming second graders. My answer is always "I don't, but I'll work on that!" My students will love to use iPads for small group reading and math.

Students can use these iPads to help them solve math problems, practice reading fluency and create!

They will be able to use apps to create and illustrate their own stories, record themselves to practice reading fluency, and practice math facts.

iPads are also great for rewards! I would love to use them to reward good behavior or even use for students who needs breaks between assignments.
