This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My English Language Learners are challenged to navigate a new country, a new school, and a new way of learning. Learning for all students is challenging and I want to give them all the classroom tools and manipulative needed for them to grow both academically and also in confidence.
The English Language Learners need a lot of assistance in developing their reading and listening skills.
There are plenty of educational websites that can help them tremendously in building reading and listening skills. We need iPads so that my students can use them to access websites created for English Language Learners to build their language skills and complete the assignments.
They can listen to reading passages or even music, and be able to play them over and over to develop their listening skills, pronunciation as well as comprehension. Students can also access various reading websites and practice reading. I would also be able to assign student to specific reading websites where they can practice reading and answer comprehension questions. Furthermore, I would be able to track their progress online. They can work in a small group to complete their assigned tasks using the online dictionaries and many other resources. The iPads will also help them to do research on various topics and get familiar with the new culture they're trying to adapt to.
