My Students

When students are able to use technology to learn they really sit up and pay attention! The use of items like cameras, computers and iPads really inspire students to put time and effort in their work.

I have ninety 7th grade English students and 25 8th grade yearbook students.

I teach in a Title 1 school in Hawaii and my students have a wide range of interests and abilities. All of them have a passion for learning and a love of anything electronic!

My Project

I will be able to use these iPads to supplement both my Yearbook and English Language Arts classrooms. For Yearbook, my students will be able to use the iPads to upload and edit pictures as well as create layouts and write articles for our upcoming book. In my English classroom the iPads will be a tool for providing much needed differentiation. An advanced student can complete a Theseus and the Minotaur Webquest online while their classmates are finishing up their myth project. A student who needs extra vocabulary assistance can go through drills on a vocabulary app on the iPad. A student who needs extra motivation to complete their work can do their assignments on the iPad. All these things can be done in class, without having to send students to the computer lab.

It is extremely important to utilize technology in the classroom in order to interest students as well as prepare them for their future.

These iPads will allow me the freedom to incorporate more activities using technology in my classroom.
