This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students are incredibly resilient. As majority BIPOC, our students not only faced a pandemic this year, which deeply impacted their community, but also have dealt with racial inequality on a constant basis.

Students deserve equal footing in their educational journey, especially in their everyday learning!

My Project

Before the pandemic, our classroom lacked available technology for our sixth graders. While our 2019-2020 class may have been supplied with technology, a good chunk of our incoming sixth graders most likely will not have access to the necessary technology needed to engage in blended/remote learning. This includes our sixth grade English Language Learners who are fairly new to NYC.

Our Bronx students deserve to start the year on the same ground level as the rest of NYC's incoming sixth graders.

These iPads will provide stability for us educators, who are adapting curriculums to be remote friendly, as well as giving our students the tools to be engaged and be in command of their learning.
