Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a low income school district and a school in which 97% of students are considered to be living below poverty level, my students are not exposed to high end technology and STEAM activities. Many of my students face academic challenges and household financial challenges.

Brownville, Texas is a border city of Mexico, and some of my students come and go every day to Mexico.

Some of my students have to wake up as early as 5:00 in the morning just to get to school on time. This, however, does not stop my students from learning and from always trying to do their best. Expectations are still set high and they know there are no excuses not to excel. My students are humble, friendly, charismatic children. Each one of my students is special in their own unique way. My class consists of 19 incredibly amazing students. Of those 19 students, 14 are English Language Learners, and 2 are artistically gifted and talented.

Our school believes that every child is capable of learning. Our goal as a school is to educate our students so that they can become productive citizens in today's and tomorrow’s society.

My Project

Help me give my students an iPad to enhance our learning. It is essential for our students be exposed to the 21st technology. Research shows that using technology enhances learning, and why not give my students the opportunity they deserve.

Using an iPad in the classroom will allow my students make their learning more concrete and authentic.

The iPad will allow students to have differentiated instruction. Students will be able to do interactive interventions, as well as use the iPad to research and explore many up-to-date applications that can help my students enhance their learning. Please help us acquire a much needed iPad!
