My Students

My class is a classroom for the future. We have so many great technologies available to us that we want to use them to the fullest potential. Students are excited to walk into a classroom where there is so much whiteboard space to explore mathematics and show their mathematical thinking.

My students are mathletes in training.

My students are 8th graders who are still excited about learning math and want to be challenged and see the relevance that math has in their lives. I have a very diverse group of students that range from different ethnicities and socioeconomic backgrounds as well as different interests.

My Project

One of the materials that I am requesting is a portable iPad presenter stand that will allow my students to use an iPad as a document camera. Because of our newly remodeled classrooms, we have great technology we want to take advantage of. We have a 72 inch smart TV that also includes Apple TV. Our current document camera is outdated and students are constantly tripping over the wires. We want to keep up with the technology and utilize the tablets we have in our classroom. The other material I am requesting is the movie Stand and Deliver and I think it is a great motivational story that I know kids will enjoy and hopefully feel inspired by.

I want my students to be prepared for the world ahead of them with all the technology available to them and knowing how to utilize it.

In addition, I want my students to understand that there are other people out there who might be going through similar struggles such as themselves but have achieved success because of their willingness to try. I believe that these materials that I am requesting will not only help students develop into strong math students but encourage a love for learning math.
