Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students love multimedia presentations. We have a projector and I would love to be able to utilize the many educational apps that are only available on an iPad. Many students already use touch screens and would be able to do anything from making short movies, to practicing their math facts!

Our school is located in an urban area of Northern California.

95% of our students qualify for free or reduced price lunch. The majority of my students are English language learners whose first language is Spanish. Our school is committed to providing all students access to the curriculum especially as we move towards full implementation of the Common Core Standards.

My Project

My students and I would benefit from having a classroom iPad which would provide educational games and also be used as a great teaching tool. The iPad can be used as a document camera and can make lessons much more interactive and engaging. I would also like to use it in small and whole group settings to make engaging presentations. My students love science and with an iPad many concepts can be reinforced via video and images. There are also many apps that will help students document what they are learning. I would like to be able to teach my students how to create presentations for their classmates and parents.

We all know that children learn in many different ways and the iPad will help cater to children's individualized learning needs.

Technology has the power to increase student achievement and teacher efficacy. This tool will make learning fun and enhance students' future opportunities. Your contribution will help close the digital divide that keeps many of our brightest stars from achieving their fullest potential.
