Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Technology is the key to engaging and keeping students interested in the classroom. Having an iPad, will truly help create attractive lessons for my students. Unfortunately, many of my students don't have access to a computer, much less an iPad at home or in school.

I work with students who have diverse disabilities and are enthusiastic about learning.

I teach in a self-contained, special education class; my students are diagnosed with Autism, Multiple Disability, Visually Impaired, Deaf and Hard of Hearing, and Intellectual Disability. I teach in a low income school and we do not have the money to make technology a priority right now with the current recession.

My Project

Having the iPad in the classroom, will target learning modalities including visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. There is an array of apps that can reach almost every student, no matter what the disability and learning modality. The visual stimulating format of the iPad facilitates children in improving the ability to reach and cross midline, to elicit and sustain isolated finger use, to use graded movement, improve sitting balance, and the ability to focus on tasks.

With the iPad, students will have access to an assortment of applications that can accommodate the needs of students who present visual, auditory, and motor impairments.

With your donation, you will be giving my students the opportunity to meet their academic needs and learning styles in order to meet the state standards.
