My Students

My students are a sweet group of first graders who come from many different countries including nations in Africa, Palestine, Iraq, Brazil, Vietnam, China, Japan, the Congo, Afghanistan, Venezuela, Cote D'Ivoire, Lebanon, Spain, Peru, Angola and the Dominican Republic.

They are an excited and eager bunch! A portion of my students qualify for refugee status and coming to America has been exciting and overwhelming as they adapt and learn the language and customs. Many are first-generation English speakers.

My Project

An Ipad in my classroom would help my twenty-five students complete our current district assessments, Renaissance360 and I-Ready. These assessments help inform instruction for my students to help me provide more individualized instruction. Currently, there is one Ipad in my class to be able to cycle all of the students through these assessments. An Ipad would also allow my students to complete literacy and math stations such as Boom Learning, Plugo Count, Osmo Pizza Co., Osmo Math Wizard, Osmo Words, Osmo Genius Tangram, and Osmo Genius Numbers. Students will also be able to practice Sight Words, read on Epic! and complete research projects.
