Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I currently teach English, History, and Art to sixth graders transitioning into middle school. Most of my students have limited technology resources at home, but regardless they remain ambitious to learn. Most of my students will be the first in their families to graduate from high school and to become important role models in their community.

The iPad would be used to project in English, History, Art, Homeroom, office hours, and tutoring classes.

This tool would serve to be very beneficial to provide engaging instruction to all my students during these trying times.

My Project

My students have been learning how to navigate online platforms, submit work online with art sketches and annotations on PDF's, create projects, and create a Google site portfolio. This year through distance learning, we have been faced with new challenges to learning virtually from home. Modeling strategies, such as creating videos, note-taking skills, and recording audio without an iPad has been a challenge

Most of my students come from low income homes with limited technology resources.

But regardless, they remain ambitious to learn new online tools.

Distance learning has created many challenges in teaching students online through the use of only one monitor. It has been difficult using Zoom on one monitor to maneuver various windows and online school applications. An iPad Pro would help provide a second screen and improve the quality of online learning.
