Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Giggling, singing and learning are non-stop in my integrated co-teaching kindergarten classroom in East Harlem. We are a class of both general education and special education students who, for many, are experiencing school for the very first time!

My students are the future!

As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite their challenges, I strive daily to create a safe space in the classroom and provide them with learning experiences and skills they need to be successful. My classroom is full of unconditional love and an enthusiasm for education, but is lacking the learning essentials of the twenty-first century.

My Project

Students enjoy using iPads in our classroom for reading, math, phonics, art and creating projects (just to name a few.) There are so many different apps and sites which will enhance our learning curriculum through the surplus of online activities that iPads have to offer. In reading, each child will have books available at their "just right" level, as well as books beyond their levels that can be read to them. In math, each child will use the iPad to practice basic math facts and skills. These iPads truly help to make learning more engaging!

2018 is right around the corner and technology is endlessly developing within the classroom!

I see how engaged and excited the students are when they are able to use a computer or tablet in our classroom. This is why I believe that having these iPads in my classroom will inspire my students to become life long learners.
