My Students

I am the Digital Learning Specialist in a school with students who come from a low-income area. Our students have limited parental support because most parents work multiple jobs in an effort to provide for their children. Our school is a Title I school with ninety percent of them receiving free or reduced price lunch.

My students work hard and take advantage of the educational opportunities available to them.

They enjoy coming to school and learning new things. They are an amazing group of children who are working hard to become productive citizens of our society.

My Project

My students would love to use the latest technology in our computer lab. We are lucky to have a SmartBoard in our computer lab, but the use of it ties me to the front of the room. In order to effectively implement the lessons that take place in the lab, I need the ability to move around the lab during the lessons. We need an iPad with a protective case to use in our computer lab with our Smartboard.

By funding this project, you will be increasing student engagement and my capability to provide more one-on-one opportunities during lessons.

Working on an iPad in the classroom is engaging, and will help students become energized and eager to learn. Students will be able to work word problems, write responses to questions, and share ideas using the iPad. The iPad will provide an opportunity for their work to be projected. This will help promote a sense of pride in their work and themselves.
