My Students

Students are forced to learn so many concepts throughout the year on grade level topics and above. Yet, in my classroom like most classrooms there are many students below grade level standards. Having this diversity within students and the ultimate goal of everyone being successful is my challenge.

I teach a diverse group of energetic 2nd graders in a low poverty economic area.

The students thrive to learn daily and have stories read to them when using our new reading program. They follow along trying to mimic, comprehend or get the gist of the story, but struggle when asked to do it by themselves. As teachers, we teach skills or strategies and want the students to practice independently. Students who are below grade level usually don't participate when ask to share or prove there answer from the text. This is because they struggle when reading grade level standard text. Working In small guided groups and using centers my students have made some progress. The lack of resources within my school limit my students progress.

My Project

Having an Apple iPad mini with a protective case and ear pod head phones will allow students the opportunity to hear and see the text to aid with fluency and comprehension. Students will be able to learn at there pace and build stamina and gain individual goals. Downloading applications will help meet the needs of students on all levels in subjects such as Literacy, Science, Social Studies, and Math. Using worldly technology will also entice the students mentally but, reinforce skills and strategies while having fun at the same time.

By donating an Apple iPad Mini, ear pods and a protective case will give the students an opportunity to increase skills and strategies taught in the classroom.

Giving all students opportunities to learn can only build proficiency within a classroom.
