Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This year, I am teaching a large group of inquisitive Gifted Third Graders that are cooperative and eager to learn. They are hands-on learners that like to work cooperatively. They enjoy asking questions and sharing their thoughts, opinions and experiences.

My students come from a variety of ethnic backgrounds including the Caribbean, Central and South America.

Most of the students at my school qualify for free or reduced lunch. Some of my students speak both English and Spanish. A few of my students have recently exited the ESOL program which means they were learning English as a second language. Many of my students have siblings either at our school or still at home while others are the only child at home. Many of my students have both parents working and are in the after-school care program, walk home or ride the bus.

My Project

There are so many great programs for students to use, but they need devices to access them! With an iPad Mini my students would be able to access the Reflex Program and complete their lessons easily. The iPad Mini is just the perfect size for my students to use comfortably and carefully. My students are very inquisitive! They are always wanting to learn more. With the iPad Mini, they would be able to conduct research on topics they are interested in and get their answers immediately.

A document camera would open the world to my students!

When my students can actually see their responses in areas such as Math and Science they can learn better! Instead of passing specimens around for students to see, they can be placed under the document camera and the class can see it all at once. Learning comes alive for students to see all at once across the various areas of the curriculum such as math, science and language arts.
