My Students

Students begin the day by finding a comfortable spot to read in our non-traditional classroom. Students enjoy couches, comfy chairs, carpets and discover their own special reading nook. Students love reading, and feeling comfortable while they learn which only makes it more fun!

I have a diverse group of twenty-one second grade students who come to school ready to learn.

They are engaged, especially with learning that involves technology in some way. Our school is growing exponentially every year with a lot of students transferring into the district.

My Project

Our school recently acquired four iPads for every classroom. We break up into reading work stations and math stations every day and students rotate. One of the work stations is on the iPad. Our district uses iStation that allows students to work at their own levels on both math and reading. With twenty-one students in the classroom and only four iPads, every student is not getting the opportunity to work daily in both math and reading. Having two extra iPads would allow every student the opportunity to learn in a way that they love.

As a Title 1 school, most of my students do not have the opportunity to use electronic devices anywhere besides at school.

This is the type of practice that they not only love, but that prepares them for a more technology driven world.
