This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My Pre-K students are a curious bunch! Throughout the school day, they are participating in classroom activities during center time. They enjoy learning through play, listening and dancing to music. They also love looking through picture books and retelling stories.
The children in my classroom come from low socio-economic backgrounds and many don't have access to technology to advance their learning.
These young minds deserve an opportunity to start their education with the tools necessary to be successful in the future.
My Project
The materials that I am requesting will help replace an outdated cassette player that my students use for their listening center. With the new iPads, they will be able to choose from a larger variety of audiobooks. They can easily use the iPad by tapping on pictures learning to become independent in the process.
I want them to learn to love reading and listening to an audiobook on an Ipad will make the storybooks come alive.
It will also help them focus on the sounds of words read without interruption and provides a model of fluent reading. Audiobooks also give them an important introduction to listening — a skill that they must master in order to learn to read.
