Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am an early childhood special education teacher in a Title 1 school. Having accessories and apps will help the students to continue to see and experience the world that they don't have access to in their regular lives.

The students in my classroom are all preschool-aged (3 to 5 years old), and are all in the special education curriculum.

The program serves children diagnosed with: • Autism • Down Syndrome • Intellectual Disabilities (formerly Mental Retardation) • Developmental Delays. • But these are all students who are much more than their disability. They are students like any other child, who want to learn and explore, and just need more help than the typically developing child their age.

My Project

The donation of iPad accessories and reading materials will help the students by protecting the equipment they use to learn more about their world, as well providing books that will help enrich their language and cognitive development. I can help continue their education with quality reading materials, and continue their journey into the world by being able to show, and not just tell, the sights and sounds of what is being taught, and help bring the world closer to them. And that's what I want; I want to bring the world to my students in every way I can.

The difference you will make is in insuring that the iPad that we depend on will be well protected, and that it can be used with apps specially designed for children with disabilities.

Additionally, the literature which is created for students our age range, will help supplement the language development portion of the curriculum. Your donation helps to ensure the longevity of the equipment, and the expansion of the children's language skills.
