My Students

Creativity, imagination, problem solving and collaboration are key components to authentic teaching and learning in our classroom. I have high expectations for EVERY student. It is my responsibility to provide a variety of learning opportunities to help each child meet or exceed their goals.

Our schools serves kindergarten, first and second grades with approximately 2,000 students enrolled.

We have a diverse population of ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds, a growing ELL population, and a high percentage of students who need accelerated learning opportunities. We also have students who need reading and math interventions to help them establish a firm foundation for successful learning.

My Project

Donated funds will be used to purchase two iPADs to supplement the classroom curriculum and support the STEM requirements. These technology pieces will serve as our iPAD Island Station and will provide a place for students to conduct investigations while developing 21st skills in collaboration, creativity, and technology integration. Through carefully selected applications, the iPADs will provide our challenged readers access to a wide variety of meaningful literacy tasks in the areas of phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension--the skills needed to attain reading proficiency. Various apps will also enhance Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math skills, accelerate student achievement, and ignite creativity. The applications, available for no or low cost, will be differentiated and organized into individual folders for each student based on learning needs. Each student will easily be able to access engaging and motivating activities.

The iPADs in our island station will provide a place for students to conduct investigations while developing 21st century skills in collaboration and technology integration.

It will help them to improve in reading, math, and writing and make gains at their individual levels. iPADS will change their lives for the better by allowing them to grow in confidence about using current technology and inspire them to use their imaginations and be creative.
