My Students

The lesson delivered by a teacher in the classroom can't be beat, but I know that an iPad will help engage all students in the lesson and keep them coming back ready to be engaged through the visual capabilities of the iPad.

I am currently teaching a great group of 5th graders.

Some of my students are gifted and others struggle with the accessibility of the content, but they are excited about school and being apart of our learning environment. My students are in a Title 1 school and very often some students do not have the supplies they need to be successful. A thing as simple as a pencil is a struggle for some, so I know they too may not have access to technology at home. How awesome would it be to give them the same opportunity as other students who take such advantages for granted? The iPad in the classroom helps level the playing field.

My Project

The iPad has so many rich resources for my students through its application base that I know it will be a huge resource in and outside of the classroom for them. Last year, some great donors helped me acquire an iPod, which was a huge success because students had the chance to grow academically through specific game apps that helped them understand number lines and integers, fractions, decimal, and percent equivalents. We watched a little "Shakespeare in Bits," which got them excited enough to go see Romeo and Juliet at the local park. We read a book about the Wright Brothers and then had a chance to watch a podcast on some individuals whom recreated the 1903 flyer. I know my students loved the "Living Lung" and "Digestive System in 3-D as well. There is literally so much in the way of learning to be done through the use of this iPad and I can't wait to put it to use in the classroom with a group of students eager for the opportunity in technology.

You donation to my project of an iPad will help so many students achieve.

We all know that there are some children who get a lesson and from that point on understand, but I want to reach those students who are struggling and need a boost through the visual and voice of the iPad. My students who struggle conceptually get a chance to score their own victories on this and have an opportunity to hold their heads high. It's a little thing, but their success is paramount to all of us.
