Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students are hardworking, and their families care a lot about their success. They come from low socioeconomic backgrounds in Houston, TX with almost every student qualifying for free or reduced-cost lunch. Over 90% of the students are Hispanic, and many of them will be the first person in their families to graduate from college.

My students are inspired to continue their education in a health science occupation.

Our health science programs serve students from grades 9-12. The programs offer practical experience and mentorship. The mentorship provides the students with support, helpful information, and guidance. Our goal is to supply our students with life skills that can help drive them to success in and out of high school.

My Project

Our school struggles with funding necessary resources for students' learning and engagement. I have the privilege of teaching an amazing group of young scholars. I am looking at ways to improve and enhance my students' in-class experience as much as I possibly can.

My students deserve the best I can give them, but that cannot happen without access to current technology.

I love doing hands-on activities and labs with my students. We have been forced to get away from paper and pencil to using technology to record, track, and engage in learning. I have requested an iPad to use in my classroom for labs and activities. Please consider supporting our classroom project!
