Help me give my students an iPad to help them access virtual content during blended learning!
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Cefalu's classroom raised $752
This project is fully funded
My Students
My students are part of a restricted 12:1:1 setting due to their severe social and emotional disabilities and academic delays.
All of my students live in Brooklyn, NY with low-income families, in shelters, or with foster families.
My students' home lives are extremely difficult; they display very little trust toward their peers and adults. The abuse and neglect that these children have faced in their life is something no child, or human being, should be exposed to. These teens work hard and are eager to learn. They come to school because it is where they feel "at home." Our school is a warm environment that welcomes all students, regardless of disability.
My Project
This iPad will provide my students with the opportunity to reach their true potential. We currently have 2 iPad Mini’s, however they are approximately 8 years old and do not support the Apps that are necessary for distance and blended learning. These iPads do not update anymore, leaving my students unable to download and access Google Classrooms, Zoom, Google Meet, and many other academic Apps needed for remote learning. As we are currently in a blended learning model, my students will be able to utilize this iPad in school and access their work through Google Classrooms, Docs, Sheets, etc.
With social distancing protocols in place, my students will be able to use this iPad individually, to work towards achieving personal academic goals, as well as in virtual groups to attain set goals within lessons.
A new iPad will provide students the interactive ability to not only engage, but to learn in a more meaningful, and interesting manner during blended learning. Students would be able to work at their own preferred pace. iPads can be utilized to further reinforce learning that has been done at home during our remote weeks. Essentially, these iPads will provide my students with endless opportunities to both learn and grow virtually and within the classroom setting.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
