Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from a variety of diverse backgrounds. I have second-language learners, native English speakers, autistic students, struggling readers, avid readers, ADD and ADHD students, and students from economically disadvantaged families. Many of the students are in Philadelphia because they have been displaced from their homes in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria.

At my school, the motto is "Live, Dream, Achieve".

My students know that wherever they come from has little bearing on where they're going. As long as they work hard, they can have whatever life they want. This applies especially to my students who are new to the country.

It is up to them and the choices they make to help them succeed. We have high academic and behavior expectations, and they rise to meet the challenges set before them.

My Project

The last time my middle school students had a normal school year was in the fourth and fifth grade. Since then, the subject matter has become more rigorous but my students' needs were not supported in the virtual setting. The iPad and Apple Pencil will help students make a bridge between virtual learning and classroom learning. Many of my students have had trouble adjusting to typical classroom work and are struggling with motivation, following routines, and academics, as well as written work. This iPad will help in all of those areas. Thank you!
