My Students

Having an iPad in the classroom would open up the world of technology for my students!

I teach second grade in an urban school in New York.

Our student population is amazingly diverse: academically, ethnically, culturally, and economically. Watching young people from such differing backgrounds come together to create a cohesive and cooperative classroom community is always an inspiration to me.

My Project

There are so many ways in which I would be able to use an iPad to enrich my students' learning! An iPad could be used to access educational websites and apps, to create and view photos and videos, to play interactive learning games, and to read ebooks. By using an Apple Lightening to VGA Adapter to connect an iPad to a video projector, I would be able to use the iPad for whole-class lessons and activities. In addition, an Anker wireless keyboard would enable me to use an iPad's note taking tools to document student learning, which I would then be able to share with students, families and colleagues in order to improve student work.

This iPad would replace an ancient laptop, which I use regularly in the classroom.

Unfortunately, the laptop is slow and unreliable, and it does not have enough memory to support many of the programs that I would like to use with my class. I would love to be able to engage and educate my students with the best and most current technology, which is what an iPad would offer. Please consider supporting this project!
