My Project

I have the pleasure of educating at a Title 1 school where most families receive assistance due to being low income. All students need access to high-quality education, and many of my students face challenges on a daily basis. All my students are unique and deserve the best education possible. I look at each child individually, and I am thankful for the opportunity to support their social, emotional, behavioral and educational needs. I'm a gifted teacher, and I'm truly creating a classroom environment that meets the diverse needs of my students. In order to maximize our time and learning and engagement, iPads are needed to become more interactive. A class iPad will help students to become confident to converse with one another, work hard in class and stay engaged throughout class.

An issue that we face not only in the world, but in Desoto County is the amount of trash that is found with in our community.

The students will be shown pictures of community areas with trash or overgrown, uncared for areas (parks, drains, streets, rivers, fields) and build students’ level of concern for caring for their own local environment. They will use the iPads to research how to create a plan in which students will participate in cleaning one or more areas around town or school by picking up trash, or making it more usable by people or wildlife. Students will clean up trash in designated areas and put up signs or provide trash cans to maintain the appearance.

The students could email and invite a representative from the town council with the iPads to come and be part of the discussion about the community clean-up project. Discuss how they can be of help to the class and what the students can do to help the community efforts.
