This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are highly interested in learning how to draw and paint using digital media. They are naturally curious about drawing apps and get very excited when I mention the possibility of creating a digital painting club. I started working on getting the needed equipment 3 years ago and now SMSA will have its first digital art club this school year! We still need a few materials that will help us charge the 12 iPads and apple pencils and store the pencils and cords. Additionally it would be beneficial to have cap/tip replacements and cap connecters that will prevent students from dropping or loosing the tiny Ipad caps. It is important that these valuable materials are taken care of and that students have access to using them in an organized manner.

I am just as excited as the students are to have a 21st century digital painting art club!

Digital drawing and painting is entirely different than traditional drawing/painting. Students can learn so much just by comparing and contrasting the two. Thanks to donors choose and school improvement grants this club will start this year and will meet 1 -2 times a week. We will use Adobe Fresco to explore the world of digital Painting/Illustration. The students will create art while learning Photoshop Skills that professionals use. The students work will be printed out and put on display outside of the art room class to share with the entire 6-12/community and hopefully the work will let our digital artists shine and inspire other students to join the club!
