This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

On any given day, my kids are engaged in critical thinking. I try to encourage them to not only get the right answer, but be able to explain how and why the answer is correct and be able to explain their reasoning to their group, me, and the class. We try to utilize technology as much as possible.

My students surprise me every day!

I learn as much from them as they learn from me. We are designated as a STEAM school, but we have limited access to technology for student use. The motto of my school is "Expect the Best", and that's definitely an ideal that I uphold in my classroom. I expect students to try their best and not be afraid to make mistakes because sometimes we learn best through trial and error.

My Project

With your donation towards an iPad center for our classroom, students will be able to conduct research on various topics and be engaged in 21st Century learning. Having an updated iPad center would allow students to utilize technology based games such as Prodigy and Splash Math during math stations and during literacy stations, students would be able to record themselves reading and play it back, increasing their rate, fluency, accuracy and expression. Students would also be able to listen to audio books and read along with the reader, in addition to so much more that hasn't been able to be fully explored yet.

Many of my students have access to technology outside of the classroom, but they need to learn how to use it in safe and appropriate ways.

With the addition of an updated iPad center, it would eliminate the need to make extra copies of graphic organizers and worksheets
