My Students

Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is a top priority at our school—especially during this unexpected and trying school year. The majority of my students come from low-income households and virtual learning has been stressful for all because of the great demand for and reliance on (sometimes sketchy) technology. Despite the hardships and challenges that my students face, they are amazing children. They have shown great resilience, are eager to learn and succeed, and enjoy SEL activities. As we anticipate the return to our buildings, we realize we will be returning to a new normal, where hybrid and pod learning may become the norm. So we need to be prepared.

My Project

An iPad will support student learning and engagement as we make the transition to a hybrid model of learning. This iPad will allow me to go from pod to pod and let students view SEL videos and lessons, view their and academic record and high school applications, and use online calming tools and games.

An iPad will allow me to take the counseling office to the students.

Counselors rely on several tools and approaches to address social emotional learning in the most effective and engaging way possible. Having an iPad as a SEL tool will help me work with students to ensure that they are strengthening their social emotional skills while being the best students they can be!
