My Students

My students need individual iPads to engage them in issues around the world and at home. I want to engage their interests and promote active involvement.

My students are from a rural, southern area of Georgia.

We are a Federal Title 1 school - meaning that more than 50% of the students that we serve are classified in poverty, and over 1/3 of our students are a minority. It is not unusual for a student to let me know that he or she has never been outside of the county. Many times, the only window my students have to the outside world is in my classroom. We are academically diverse with students of all levels working together and helping each other.

My Project

An Apple TV will allow my students to see what they do on an ipad on an overhead projector. We can work as a team and go back and forth between desks showing the whole class what an individual can do. This will also help with presentations and show items on the internet while I walk around the room.

Students need to be able to show their thinking in class.

They also need to have their opinions valued. By showing what they are doing, they can achieve a proud feeling that they are doing something that others find interesting- from their teacher to other students. This makes class more exciting and interesting.
