My Project

Hello, my name is Mrs. Davis, but all my kids call me Coach. I teach Seniors Government and Economics and Sophomores US History, which when all sitting at the desk learning or doing their research it can become uncomfortable in their desks and chairs, and the distractions began. These kids love learning, but they need to move around to help stay focused and be engaged.

I am asking for a more flexible environment to help my students stay focused, improve posture with comfort, support diverse learning needs, and create a positive classroom environment.

Improving posture and alignment can help with students that are in discomfort from looking up and down while taking notes or completing research, which is required in all of my classrooms. Their focus and engagement will help minimize distractions caused by discomfort or sitting in the same place or position for the whole day. Studies have shown that when students are stuck in one position for a long period of time they start to become distracted, needing to be busy providing adjustable ergonomic furniture that accommodates various body types and learning preferences, such as learning accommodations, ensures all students to feel comfortable and included. I am hoping to lead to improve grades, participation, and attendance create a classroom environment that is positive and comforting. An excerpt from an article from Rock Island High School stating how classrooms have improved: “Flexible seating also accomplished the school district's priorities to increase student achievement, build respectful relationships, and improve operations. Thanks to the help of some grants, there will be even more flexible seating this school year. “, The Rock House.
