Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

At our school, we are dedicated to empowering our students to become leaders in the classroom, school community and beyond. Our all-girls, Title I school serves a vibrant, diverse community where students are eager to learn, but often lack access to the resources that can truly ignite their potential. I am seeking your support to provide essential biology materials to support the curiosity of our students.

In the science classroom, we foster creativity, critical thinking, and leadership skills through hands-on learning experiences.

New York State has released new required state labs that promote the building of critical thinking through student-centered investigations focused on experimental design, data collection and analysis. These investigations will allow our students to think creatively and become leaders in their scientific thinking. Students will learn to work collaboratively to navigate the scientific process and build confidence in their abilities as scientists.

With these new required state labs comes the requirement of lab materials. My students need Glucose Test Strips, Mortar & Pestles, Digital Timers, glass rods, batteries as well as markers and other supplies for their lab work. Your donations will help my students explore biology in a relevant and meaningful way, enhancing their engagement and understanding of biology related to themselves and where they live.
