Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are amazing kids! They come from very diverse backgrounds and have all made their way to our continuation high school in an effort to get back on track and graduate high school. While each of these students comes from a very different situation, they all share the same earnestness to graduate. I take a very different approach with English because, typically, a traditional setting has not worked for our students in the past.

By adding this novel of self-discovery and independence into our curriculum, I'm hoping to inspire my students to take charge of their lives and follow their dreams - cautiously, of course!

We will work through this novel through the lens of a fantastic ERWC unit that will help kids develop and refine their communication skills so they are prepared for whatever path they choose after high school, whether that be a career, college, or military path.
