Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a Title I school in Texas. At my campus, 98% of our students are economically disadvantaged and 83% are at-risk. My school is located in an urban area and is full of happy students from many different walks of life. Our students come to school eager and ready to learn with a bright smile everyday. My little scholars thrive when exposed to new ideas but unfortunately the hardships they face can often hinder their understanding of new topics and or ideas. Their bright smiles and can do attitudes keep me motivated and make my love of education grow each and everyday.

My Project

As we take on the task of changing the atmosphere of our campus to have a more global spirit, we find that we would could use assistance with major expense it entails. These flags have been carefully selected to represent the nationalities of all students as well as their surrounding countries. Our school is a candidate school* for the PYP. This school is pursuing authorization as an IB World School. IB World Schools share a common philosophy- a commitment to high-quality, challenging, international education- that we believe is important for our students.

*Only schools authorized by the IB Organization can offer any of its four academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), the Diploma Programme (DP), or the Career-related Programme (CP).

Candidate status gives no guarantee that authorization will be granted.
