My Students

The two students that will benefit from this experience are freshmen students in high school and active members of their school's HOSA chapter. They have been active members of HOSA since they began high school last August. In March, they competed at the state level and came in 3rd place overall for their event, which was Health Career Display. Both students are enrolled in honors courses and have maintained a consistent A-B average throughout the entire year. They are also part of the Project Lead the Way Biomedical Science program at our school.

My Project

The students were able to compete locally against their peers from South Carolina last month. They competed in the HOSA competitive event known as Health Career Display, focusing on an athletic trainer. They came in 3rd overall among other peers competing in the same event, which qualifies them to go to the International competition this summer and compete against students from across the country! The 4-day HOSA International Competition is located in Dallas, Texas. This project will help cover the cost of lodging during the competition.

Throughout this 4-day conference, students are not only given the opportunity to compete against students just like them from across the United States, but they are also able to attend educational symposiums, make meaningful connections with other students, and prepare themselves for a future career in a healthcare profession.

The competition is half-way across the country and lasts for four days, so the students need financial support to ensure that they will be able to participate in this rewarding experience!
