My Students

My 4th-grade class is a unique one that includes general education students and special education students who are working on social and emotional goals. All of my students have just gone months with remote only learning and are now entering a new phase of blended learning, where we will be partly in the classroom and partly learning from home. My students will be learning both academic skills, like how to write a realistic fiction story and how to multiply two-digit numbers, and social-emotional skills, like how to be resilient during this pandemic and how to be a good friend.

We have many low-income families in our class and want to make sure all of our students have the tools they need to learn both in school and at home this school year!

Our school's number one priority this year is the psychological well-being of our children, and we hope to build academic skills upon that foundation. We need some different learning tools this year to be successful and to build a classroom community while some of us are in school and some are at home.

My Project

My fourth grade students are so excited to learn more about their interests and discover new ones, but our nonfiction library is currently lacking in several areas. We need some new books to spiff up our library. The book list we created is specially tailored for the interests of our class this year. We are a class that loves sports, geography, outer space, and animals (especially cats!)

Our class library needs some new nonfiction books that contain OMG wow facts that they can't wait to share with each other while also learning their nonfiction reading skills.

Nonfiction books are an essential part of a classroom library that can help spark a love of reading in kids who don't find fiction books to be their jam. With your help, we can inspire a love of reading in every child in our class this year as they also learn some awesome facts about the world around them. Thank you for helping us learn and grow!
