Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a lively, fourth grade bunch in an Integrated Co-Teaching setting located in the Bronx. This means that my classroom has a unique mix of students with special needs and general education students. Many of our wonderful students have Individual Education Plans to meet their specific needs and to give each student strategies and supports that will help them reach grade level and participate in the 4th-grade curriculum despite any challenges they may be facing.

The class word that we use every day is persevere; although some days it can be difficult, we have to keep trying, push through and stay positive!

We call our class a community, a team, and a family. We all work together to support each other and learn not only academics but how to be loving, caring, powerful, passionate human beings. We instill in each of our students that they can do anything they put their minds to; our school starts every morning by reciting, "With these hands, with this heart, with this mind, I can do anything!" And I want each of my students to believe it!

My Project

This year, I have students that are reading at many different reading levels. As I was organizing my library, I realized we didn't have many interesting books on all of my students' levels. I am intent on fostering a love for learning with my students; ensuring that I have interesting books for all of my diverse readers is essential. I also want my students to be able to use their iPads comfortably for read alouds, videos, digital lessons, etc, and having headphones is important for minimal distractions and individual learning on their iPads.
