Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Many of my 28 fascinating 2nd grade ELL students come from single-parent, low-income households. These students are faced with challenges both in and out of the classroom on a daily basis.

Despite the challenges they face every day, these boys and girls join my virtual classroom with bright eyes, big smiles and are motivated to succeed.

My students are now learning remotely from home with a very limited amount of resources. Being language learners, visuals are crucial in helping support their learning.

My Project

Teaching virtually has its own challenges for an adult.

Now imagine learning virtually for 6 and 7 year old English language learners.

Having a document reader will help my 2nd graders during virtual lessons. These materials will help them become more engage in our read alouds. At this time, I am holding text up to my laptop camera. Pictures are small, text is small and interest gets lost easily.

I want to help my students feel as if they are sitting in front of our books. I want them to get lost in our texts. I want them to immerse themselves in Scholastic Readers and Science Digest.
