Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Hello, I am a 6th grade science and math teacher. I work with approximately 52 6th grade students, split into two classes. I am an advocate for technology in the classroom. I believe that technology is such a powerful tool in helping to motivate students to want to learn, and aiding in their comprehension of any subject. The new science curriculum we will be working with has so much technology built into it. The features include supplement power point lessons, video game shows for test prep and review, DVD videos to supplement various lessons, as well as many other features. While I do have my own personal laptop to load this software into, I do not have any means of projecting the videos and information on a screen. In order for my students to fully benefit from the wonderful software provided to me by the science curriculum, a projector would be needed. By using this projector, I would be able to work with students interactively on power points, review games, test prep, and even with DVD videos about the topics they are learning. I would also be able to pull up information from the web, or bring in my own power points I have designed in order to aid student learning and provide them with a diverse means of obtaining information. This projector would not be used for one or two projects, but rather on a weekly basis to assist student learning in not just science, but math as well. When I was in school, I always focused more on the lessons that went beyond just the teacher lecturing and the students copying. I want to take my classroom and instruction to the next level and maximize my students learning experience in 6th grade at the SEAL academy. By obtaining a projector, I believe I will be able to do just that.
