My Students

My name is Heather Lawnicki and I have been teaching for over 20 years. I will be teaching Spanish this is year.

I teach Spanish at a metropolitan school with diverse learners.

We are currently a struggling school. Our State Report Card lists us at a 62.5 “Meets Few Expectations.” Per the demographics of our school 64% of our students are students of color, 19% of our students have disabilities, and 56% are economically disadvantaged.

My Project

I am requesting composition notebooks and glue sticks. The goal is to provide one notebook for each student in Spanish 1. The students will glue in all of their assignments and use the notebook to take all of their Spanish notes.

Notebooks that are dedicated to one class help students keep all of their learning materials in one place.

I have chosen these specific notebooks because they are large enough to include a full page activity. The notebooks also have storage pockets to help students to stay organized.

These interactive notebooks will create a book of what each student has worked on over the year. The students will be able to refer to their notebooks to study and review for assignments and tests. The exciting part is that the notebooks will reflect how much a student has learned over the year.
