My Students

What makes my students special are moments they create to showcase a variety of aspirations and talents. My students are artists, altheletes, dancers, designers, comedians, cosmetologists, inventors, mathematicians, poets, and singers. My students know their future is bright, and are growing toward building a greater community.

My students are special because they are apart of many small communities knitted together by extended families, farming, and a love for football.

The 2015 football team were undefeated in their region, bringing a greater pride to our school and community. My students' sense of belonging, in this historic season, was solidified by the support of parents, teachers, and community members as they filled the stands cheering for our hometown heroes on the field.

My community has a rich history is agriculture, where we are reminded constantly of this way life each time we drive down our country roads lined with corn and or cotton. My students have opportunities to continue the farming tradition as future farmers, as well as, transition into a global technological society with a growing standard of academic excellence.

My Project

The donation of a printer will make the difference in my students' learning by giving them the option of what is going into their interactive notebooks. Interactive notebooks are project based learning tools that are student created. Students are organizing their historical content in their own creative way in order to build their own reference guides for learning. The interactive notebook allows students to independently create resources to broaden their understanding of history by inputting pictures, graphs, charts, notes, vocabulary, and teacher's inputs.

Interactive notebooks allow students to be highly engaged in their learning using multiple resources, hands-on, to create products using technology and basic materials.

Students will see history in color! Coupled with a variety of hands-on learning activities and activating multiple intelligences, students will view history chronologically and organized the way they understand it.

Giving students ownership in learning is engaging within itself, however, the interactive notebooks will give students lifelong skills of organization and responsibility. Students using interactive notebooks are obtaining skills of accountability, ingenuity, and organizing that will add to success beyond their classrooms into the the workforce.
