My Students

Do you remember learning how to graph trigonometric functions (sine, cosine, tangent) and apply trigonometric identities? These are difficult topics that my students will need to KNOW next year in order to be successful in Calculus.

My students are all 11th graders in Pre Calculus at a public magnet STEM school in Baltimore, Maryland.

They are awesome kids who work hard and ask lots of great questions in class. They also tend to forget a lot of content during the summer. Next year, as seniors, they'll all take Intro to Calculus and I'm worried that over the summer they are going to forget a lot of the difficult trigonometry content that they'll learn this spring.

My Project

In order for my students to be prepared for Calculus, they need to have a strong grasp on trigonometric functions. I've had success in the past with interactive notebooks. Go ahead and do a google image search of "foldables for high school math" to get a visual idea of what I'm talking about. These composition notebooks, filled with foldable, organized notes, will help my students organize difficult topics. These foldable are also study tools. Because some content is hidden, students can quiz themselves on what they remember, and the open their foldable to see if they remember. They will also be an excellent resource for students when they are in Calculus next year.

I want my students to have an extremely organized, self created interactive notebook to help them succeed with the very difficult topics of Trigonometric Functions.

In addition, my awesome students will be able to use this notebook as a resource in their senior year (next year!) as they apply trigonometric functions in Calculus class. My students are really great, smart kids, who need an extra boost to be successful in the Intro to Calculus class. You can help them do this.
