My students are a diverse, precocious group of learners living throughout the Los Angeles area. They are in a magnet program specializing in Modern Media and Communications. These young scholars are open to sharing ideas, collaborating, and growing as individuals even though we cannot be in a classroom together right now.
My Project
Pear Deck is a Google Add-on that turns Google Slides into an interactive learning tool. With the information I get from Pear Deck, I can highlight my students' ideas and assess their level of understanding in real-time.
This not only ensures that every student has a voice in class, but it also ensures every student is participating.
Scott Freeman describes the Active Learning that Pear Deck elicits as "Active learning engages students in the process of learning through activities and/or discussion in class, as opposed to passively listening to an expert. It emphasizes higher-order thinking and often involves group work."
