My Students

My students come in each morning ready to learn! With a small classroom, and a high number of students, it can be hard to make our learning creative. I believe that through this project, my students will be able to learn necessary skills in math and reading in a different but fun way!

My students come from a high-poverty neighborhood, where they do not get the basic learning tools that they need to succeed.

They try so hard everyday to do their best, even though our district cannot afford to buy them books, or their parents may not be able to buy notebooks for them. My students deserve fun and interactive learning experience that many children do have.

My Project

My students will use their interactive notebooks to help them better understand the skills we are learning. Interactive notebooks are a way to put a creative spin on what students are learning, and letting them express their creativity through academics. I will be using the copy paper to print papers for their interactive notebooks, and my students will in turn use them to cut and paste into their copybooks. From there, they will be able to color code and organize our skills that we are learning.

This project will give my students something to look forward to each day instead of packets of work to do.

Since our district does not have the funds to give us books, I am constantly making skills packets and printing out read-clouds for students to use in black and white. My goal is to help my second grade students recognize the creativity and intelligence that they each possess.
