This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Inquiry...Questions and Freedom of Expression are just a few of the things I try to incorporate into my classroom. I have the privilege everyday of watching my scholars Question, Design, Test and Present their research. I also see the growth and confidence they develop as they prepare to progress through middle school onwards to high school.

"Don't let your circumstances determine who you become" is one of the many inspirational quotes I use with my scholars as many of them face an insurmountable number of challenges in their personal lives, but yet they are present and ready to learn.

My Project

Science needs to be engaging, hands-on and fun. These are only a few of the requests that my students make every year. Science concepts can be very abstract and students need to be engaged in tasks that are high interest and will more importantly aid in developing recall and understanding.

Last school year I embarked on an interactive science journey with my students which consisted of my students making interactive notebooks,using multiple activity lists and many forms of technology to engage in learning.

The positive feedback from my students was overwhelming and evident in our Science State Exam scores, as my students performed the best they had in the last six years.

I have requested items such as glue, scissors, pencils to helps students in creating and designing their interactive notebooks with a multitude of foldables that are usually cut and glued to their notebooks and also clipboards with erasers and dry erase markers to help students with easily creating and modifying their designs during group work and also as a mode of formatively assessing student understanding of content and portfolios to be used to store student work throughout this journey.

I would like to embark on this journey of an interactive classroom again but I am financially unable to support 200 plus students over the course of a school year and would appreciate any contribution to aid in my efforts but, more importantly to make learning engaging for my students.
